His name is Odin Palacio, but the community knows him by his artistic name, Udini La Voz. Originally from Panama, Palacio is a young local talent whose mission is to create a bicultural movement with his music.
Not to be confused with the Argentinian sauce Chimichurri, the Dominican Chimichurris is an after-party must. Originating in the Dominican Republic, the Chimi is a burger-like specialty sold out of panel trucks in corners of concentrated areas generally surrounded by nightlife and businesses.
Danilo Burgos, former aide to Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez and Councilman Allan Domb, became the 197th District’s first Dominican-American State Representative candidate after defeating incumbent Rep. Emilio Vazquez and CEO of Pan-American Mental Health Services Fred Ramirez in the primary election this past May 15. Burgos, a democrat, will run unopposed in the November general election as there are no Republic candidates in the race.
From an early age, Rosaura Reynoso understood how hair has the power to frame a woman’s face. She developed a passion for the art of hair styling, and in 1983 decided to start her journey as a hair stylist.
Reynoso was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where she opened her own salon and even taught for a while.
On a national level, the Latinx baby boom is expected to increase the population by 167% in the next thirty years.
With an ever growing population of about 1.6 million residents, the Latinx community in Philadelphia brings vitality not only culturally but economically. Concentrated in Hispanic-populated areas, these businesses are multiplying just as fast as its thriving community.
Just west of Broad Street on Dickinson Street is Philadelphia Tech Repair. Alex Kanderson–the store’s owner, manager and lone employee–sits inside the small shop. As the small chalk board outside 1411 Dickinson St. states, he fixes “phones, laptops, tablets and more” six days a week.
For the Body art project, we ended up making a website and a book that profiles a number of individuals with various types of body modification. Broken into three sections (Tattoos, Piercing, and Hair) there are section head videos that introduce an artist in that field and brief articles that talk about that type of body art. Each gallery has quotes from each person and a link to the book is on the "Book" page of the website.

A comprehensive website using Wordpress to compile and display information about the structurally deficient bridges in America. Celebrations gathered around in Chinatown in Philadelphia, Pa., especially on January 29. 2017: the year of the rooster, the fire rooster, to be exact. In celebration of the Lunar Festival. In the Chinese culture, the fire rooster is a trustworthy, with a strong sense of timekeeping and responsibility at work. These personalities were put on display this past weekend in Philadelphia Chinatown. The sound and smoke of firecrackers filled the air with joy and smiles on people's faces, as they performed. To the Chinese culture, the lion signifies courage and stability, and its irresistible force is and its roar.
Located in the heart of Baltimore, Station North is one of the first areas in Baltimore to receive the State title as an Arts & Entertainment District in 2002. It spanned to many neighborhoods in Baltimore including; Charles North, Greenmount West, and Barclay, Station North which is a diverse collection of artist live-work spaces, galleries, rowhomes, and businesses.
As of now, Station North continues to serve as a national model for the Arts & Entertainment District.
